Temple of the Chosen One
City of Majitra

The serrated blade slashed down, the bleat of terror quickly silenced as the dagger sawed over the animal's jugular. The bright crimson spray of blood soaked the altar, as the animal's lifeblood pumped from the wound, a second strike followed to open the creatures belly. Ropey entrails spilled forth, and soon the priests talons were extended to sift through them to carefully decipher what the Ancestors had said from beyond the Veil. While the Royal Family itself was considered divine, Ancestor worship was common. This practice extended to the Royal Family itself whom often turned to their revered Grandfather Zengari for ''guidance''.

King Casimir himself was not one to believe in superstition..much. Everything that the High Priest said was taken with a considerable grain of salt but truth could some times be divined from the strangest of sources and Casimir was willing to listen to the priests advice even if his source was dubious at best. Casimir leaned forward, talons as strong as iron digging into the massive arms of his chair.

'' Well, what do the Ancestors say? War or peace? '' Casimir barked.

'' Your Grandfather advises caution, O Great King. '' He said, wiping his gory talons on his blood soaked robes, the blade being carefully cleaned with a cloth before being rammed home within its leather sheath. '' Little is known about these peoples to the East. The Ancestors advise sending envoys to gauge their strength and determine their weaknesses, when the time is right...to strike. For now..peace. '''

'' Our armies could smash them, You're Highness! Just give the command! '' A voice boomed, the massive figure stepping forward from the right of the throne was immediately recognized as War Master Hulagu. '' The flat lands folk are weak and soft. I could crush them as I could a newly born hatchling! '' He said squeezing his powerful fist together in a crushing motion, displaying the typical arrogance held towards those whom inhabited the low lands.

'' No..not yet at least. It took thirty years to push the humans out and I will not risk a long conflict now. '' Casimir snapped, he did not share Hulagu's confidence even though he knew that the Ezrian's were a superior culture and people. '' The Ancestors give prudent advice in this matter. Hulagu, dispatch scouts to survey the Eastern frontier. Take into account enemy fortifications, cities, and what would lay within our route of march.. In the meantime, we shall dispatch emissaries to these people to discover their temperament. See it done. '' Hulagu crashed his fist against his breastplate, bowing to show his acceptance of the order before stalking out of the temple to see them followed.

Summary:
King Casimir asks the Ancestors for Guidance in whether to make war on the people's of the East. The Ancestors ''advise caution'' before rushing to war, despite War Master Hulagu's objections that the enemy could be easily crushed. Casimir dispatches emisarries to the Kingdom of Mabiya while also ordering scouts to prepare to infiltrate Mabiyan territory to gather intelligence.

Eastern Frontier

Battle Captain Kirhae had been stunned when he'd been handed the mission by War Master Hulagu himself. He was to lead four men over the Eastern frontier to the flatland's to discover what exactly lay over the border and the best route of march for the army. He was to take into account the landscape, what could be easily foraged by troops on the move, enemy fortifications or cities..it would be a challenge. As of now, the Ezrian's had only experienced isolated encounters with their eastern neighbors. Kirhae and the rest of the Imperial Council had no idea how many inhabited the area or how strong they were.

He had selected his four best men, each was a light infantryman. He needed troops who were adept at traveling fast and light. The five man team departed from Agrina for the eastern border, little did Kirhae know but a second diplomatic was being prepared to establish contact with the Easterners. The group would move primarily by night, their ability to fly over vast distances would help minimize their chances of being spotted combined with their excellent night vision made this method of travel preferable from moving in the daylight hours. Kirhae and his men steadily gained altitude, powerful wings propelling them East. He could see the sprawling city of Agrina beneath him, and hundreds of people like ants moving about. Steadily the beautiful mountain's gave way to the flat open plans beyond them..

--------------------------------------------------------------
Coronne

The city of Coronne was the jewel of a dark world inhabited by filthy barbarians, the cities architecture that reached higher and higher towards the Heavens spoke much of the people whom inhabited it. Always striving forward to reach the pinnacle of what their species could achieve. It was a city in the clouds, nearly in the most literal sense. Ambassador Batyn Anda was loathe to leave it behind, but the King had charged him with a duty. Establish contact with the inferior people's of the East and it was one he would fulfill. He had sworn as much on the bones of his ancestors.

In the pre-dawn hours of the morning he had left, along with an entourage of more than a hundred of the King's Guard for the border. The march down the mountains was slow and treacherous. They could not take to the sky due to the provisions that it would require to move the party, in addition their mounts had long since lost the ability to fly...Nevertheless, the Gryphons were an impressive sight. The massive beasts capable of tearing a human warrior to pieces with the massive talons, it was a mighty steed and one he hoped would impress the barbarians into submission..as was their place. If they would not bend the knee and pay the proper respect that the Ezrian's would due, then his Master would send their civilization to the ash heap of history. That thought brought what something akin to a smile that held no mirth to those features.

Summary:

Battle Captain Kirhae leads a select group of troops over the Eastern frontier to gather information. Meanwhile, Ambassador Batyn Anda leaves the capital of Coronne to establish official diplomatic contact with the Mabiyans.

Kingdom of Ezria

Ezrian Mountain Chain

Battle Captain Kirhae and his cohorts had traveled until the sun began to fade into the dying horizon, around this time the mountains sloped down into the earth and gave way to temperate plains that stretched for miles. Small streams and rivers dotted the landscape, but trees there were naught, mountains there were naught. The five soldiers were apprehensive about leaving the protective climate of their mountain home. Their talons had grown accustomed to the rough stone beneath them and the gentle breeze beside them. This desolate locale offered no protection and very litte room for skyward growth. Past the mountains of Ezria the landwalkers roamed. Ignorant and docile, history had dictated their inevitable defeat at the hands of Ezria, this was the general thought amongst all native Ezrians.

Kirhae and three of his scouts sat perched on a small outcropping, a myriad of ancient rocks still blocked their exit out of the mountain chain but offered respite against the burning sun. They were resting their wings and waiting the return of their fifth comrade, the monumental flapping of wings indicated his return. He landed in a heave, a huge four legged animal at his feet. Dead. He dropped to a knee, plucked the arrow from its jugular and slid it back into the quiver at his hip. Kirhae and the others began to meticulously cut slices from the creature's hide and ate, although almost hesitantly. Meat was not an essential diet for the Ezrians, but it was food none the less. Hunting for berries and nuts on the open plain was like trying to find a needle in a haystack and would've cost the group more time. They finished their meal and one by one took off into the sky to continue their eastward journey.

They moved fast across the winds, faster than any cavalry and they did not have to travel long, within a few hours of the moons rising the first notable settlements became visible. A small cottage with a small farm along it's back side. A light was visible inside the hut and smoke plumed from it's stone chimney. The cottages became more frequent. Finally, the fivesome saw it. A huge settlement -- a city with thousands of cottages and shops all around a central castle of archaic stone. Although none of their compatriots would know it's name or inhabitants, this was the Elvish City of Shurmanda, of the Kingdom of Mabiya. It was alight with activity, even at night. Kirhae would need to give a command to his soldiery before they flew too close to the majestic city.

City of Agrinia
Central Square

The caws and screams were blatant, it didn't take long for a half dozen guards to assemble and draw their blades to ensure the continued civility of the crowd. Angry, the Ezrian farmers flared their wings and shouted over and over. They had filled the square and had attempted to enter the Office of Agriculture to speak to the head official, but a half dozen guards barred their entrance, although with great hesitance for fear of being overrun. The people were angry at the heavy taxation rates imposed by the king. The seasons were good, the people ate well and still the king asked for over half of the farmers salaries for each bagging of their lands. It was too much! The farmers barely had enough coin to feed their hatchlings and plant for the new season, whereas the kingdom took a heavy amount of coin from them and made huge profits.

The problem did not go unnoticed for long. A royal messenger left Agrinia with a parchment in his cloak from the official at the agricultural office telling of the riots. The king, if not woken, would be roused to be alerted so that he might act, whether it be with benelovence or malevolence.

Mabiyan Plains

Although Ambassador Batyn Anda wasn't aware, Captain Kirhae had watched his entire entourage pass through the mountain pass during the day. The one hundred man strong envoy was slow moving through the pass. The majestic gryphons, originally masters of the sky had been tamed and found to be more effective as ground based shock troops than as aerial combatants. They were sturdy and meticulous as they crossed the rocky craigs of the Ezrian Mountain Chain. Their talons were their saving grace, versatile and durable. It would've been ten times more difficult had their steeds been equipped with hooves instead. Ambassador Batyn Anda rode near the head of the formation but a pair of mounted soldiers lugged just ahead of him.

The pace increased exponentially as the gryphons found grass beneath their feet. They stopped as the sun died and made camp on the open plains. A small handful of guards stripped their ceremonial armor and took to the sky for a night patrol, others patrolled the ground themselves and still others ensured no one stepped unwanted near Batyn Anda's hastily erected tent. The group made all due haste eastward at the morning light, and within hours were passing symbols of civilization. They passed a small cottage where Anda and several guards saw a wingless humanoid with high pointed ears and long flowing blond hair. His hands and clothes were filthy, as most earthwalkers were and he toiled at the ground. They continued on and eventually the majestic and archaic architecture of a huge city filled their view. At it's center was a massive castle, cast with a stone that held an dainty green hue. As they entered the town, several figures -- identified as guards -- moved to barr their entrance further down the cobbled road.

" Hold there, stranger! "

-- Battle Captain Kirhae see signs of civilization along the eastern front. They finally discover a sizable city in the middle of the night, but Kirhae must order his soldiers further to determine what else they find.

-- Agricultural farmers in Agrinia riot in the central square due to what they feel as unnecessarily high taxation rates. A messenger is dispatched to the capital to alert the king of the disturbance.

-- Ezrian Ambassador Batyn Anda finally enters the first prominent center of civilization to the east, the Elvish City of Shurmanda. PLEASE OPEN A NEGOTIATIONS THREAD WITH THE KINGDOM OF MABIYA.

Agrinia
Central Square

A hard shove sent the farmer reeling back into the crowd of his fellows . '' Stay back I said. '' The Guardsman snarled as he wrenched his blade from his sheath, keeping the sword pointed downwards..but the threat was obvious. Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture Toghrul Sakra had barricaded himself within his office to keep the rabble at bay. A messenger had been dispatched to Coronne to speak of the unrest, but that hadn't been the only message that had been sent. The local garrison commander at Agrina would soon have a dispatch in his hand telling that a 'mob had descended upon the agricultural office and to send troops immediately'.

The response was swift as a regiment of light infantry was dispatched to handle crowd control and allow the Minister to negotiate from a position of strength. The threat of violence was in the air as the Royal soldiers swiftly moved to surround the square, cutting off the exits but like an attack dog on a leash they were kept back for the time being. Over two hours passed, the troops keeping the crowd contained and ensuring that they didn't burn down the building but making no move to disperse them by force. The commanding officers of the regiment weren't about to lay the seeds of further unrest by committing a massacre. The courier finally returned with a message that the Minister was authorized to negotiate on the King's behalf. Only then did Minister Sakra emerge, a wall of steel separating himself from the mob of unruly farmers. A chorus of angry shouts and insults greeting him.

'' SILENCE!'' Sakra's booming voice crashed throughout the square. '' Your benevolent King Casimir is prepared to hear your list of grievances. Elect a representative from amongst yourselves and send him into my office. '' The farmers would huddle about before a man they trusted emerged from the grouping to follow Sakra into the office. The Minister eased himself behind his desk, those hard eyes dissecting the peasant before him.

'' What will it take for you to convince your people to go home? '' That question could be interpreted in more than one way...Was Sakra trying to bribe the man the crowds trusted? Yes. Whether the half wit would pick up on that was another question altogether. '' What do YOU want exactly? Surely a man such as you can understand the need to raise new taxes from the people. There is so much to do after all. The Army has to be paid to defend us from the Easterners, roads have to be paved, economic activity promoted. The King is a great man but what he wants to achieve cannot be done without coin. Which is why it is important..that you and I come to an arrangement. ''

Mabiya

Captain Kirhae stared at the city with something close to awe but that was quickly overcome by the reality of the situatian. The avians found a hillside from which to observe the city from a distance without marching too close. '' Make note of any defenses you see...We shall observe for awhile..and then press on. We must attempt to accurately map each settlement that we discover.''

Summary:
Sakra attempts to bribe a representative of the farmers into dispersing the crowd, Kirhae and his men observe the city that they have discovered..careful to take in details before Kirhae gives the order to press on to discover additional information if possible.

Ezrian Mountain Chain
Talon Leader Matsuo glared off into the distance what he saw before him was awe inspiring. Hundreds of his comrades moving in perfect coordination in the sky, their destination? The Eastern Frontier where Ezria's destiny awaited her. The Master Race would soon expand it's holdings down onto the Flatlands folk, or that's what the rumor was. Diplomats had been dispatched to speak with their inferior neighbors to the East but it talks were unsatisfactory War Master Hulagu was preparing to press Ezria's demands with force and push the strange eared folk off the mountain chain. Matsuo also understood that the threat of force could also push the Mabiyan's into making a decision, hopefully with a sword at their throat. Ezria was emerging from a period of isolation, even a lowly underling like Matsuo could understand that she would need access to ports to trade and bring new goods into the country.

Matsuo allowed his talon's to flex over the hilt of his blade, like many of the warrior caste he was only too eager to create living space for his fellow Avians. What Matsuo saw though was only a small piece of the total horde that the King could summon. On the ground he could see the shapes of cavalry and wagons moving downwards on the trail, all heading towards the Eastern Front. The next few days would be interesting.

Coronne
Royal Palace
King Casimir stared into the empty eye sockets of the dwarven skull before handing it off to an attendant. '' What we have beneath our Kingdom is what concerns me War Master. The stunted folk haven't been seen in generations except for small skirmishes and raids. My grandfather was right to slaughter their emissary. '' Casimir would have done the same, the dwarves had the audacity to demand that the Ezrian's leave their mountain Kingdom and home. They claimed that they didn't have the 'right'. The Ezrian's had called these mountains home for a thousand years and no other race would force them to leave until the last man, woman, and hatchling was dead.

'' They are a prospective blight. We must either enter negotiations with them or crush them. I would prefer the latter. '' Hulagu rumbled, the Avian being of the warrior class was naturally aggressive and eager to prove his loyalty to his King.

'' In either case, we will need to find them first. Begin dispatching teams to search the derelict mines and passageways. We need to identify these points of possible invasion and guard them well.'' The King replied.. '' We won't be able to take the fight to them, they will have all the advantages if we attempt to push underground. Not now at least, we will need more troops. Our best guarantee to thwart aggression is to keep them contained enough until we have enough strength to wipe them out completely. See the searches conducted. ''

Summary:
1,500 Ezrian troops begin a march to the Eastern Front to put diplomatic pressure on Mabiya to make a decision.

The King orders a search for dwarven tunnels.

[ *note everwinter and I are playing it already that our two cultures have had violent contact already. It'll be put in his history I believe sometime today. ]

Kingdom of Ezria

Ezrian Mountains,
Agrinia

The riot had quieted substantially, but it was a mere lull as one of the farmers had elected to act as a representative and go speak with the agricultural minister. They bantered on for several hours and the farmer visibly fought the urge to accept a large bribe versus looking out for his fellow farmers. Eventually, the charismatic character of Minister Sakra won the day and the farmer voiced the price of how much it would cost to keep him silent about the deal and to persuade his farmers to break up their protesting.

Here were the options set before Minister Sakra:
-- Give the farmer 3 Economic Points and decrease the Taxation Rate by 2 Economic Points to show Ezria's merciful intent. This will continue to fill Ezria's coffers and keep the farmers quiet for a while.
-- Decrease the taxation rate by at least 4. This will appease the farmers and all civil unrest in Agrinia will be dispelled.
OR
-- Give the farmer 7 Economic Points to appease the farmer and persuade him to tell his comrades to disperse. No change in Taxation Rate will be required. This will quiet the farmers for a while.

Plains of Mabiya,
North of the City of Shurmanda

Battle Captain Kirhae and his scouts found a perch over a league away, one of the assembled removed a piece of parchment and ration of quill and ink to begin drawing a rough sketch of the city. It was labeled Pointed Ear City and beneath the name there was a plethora of information about the city

Pointed Ear City
-- 20,000 to 35,000 living there.
-- no city walls
-- cottages and small villages surround it on all sides
-- power of government in center castle
-- high buildings and wide avenues
-- unknown defenses, perhaps 2,000 to 5,000 troops

The information was hastily scribbled, the parchment rolled up and stuffed back into the soldiers light leather tunic. Kirhae gave the order and the five took to the night sky. They headed north, and it would cost the expedition four days time as they had to double back after finding nothing more than a few woodsmen huts. They would veer back south, than come back eastward to see where the fabled end of the continent was. Even with flight upon their wings, it would be four days time before they came into view of another major Elvish settlement again.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ezrian Mountains

Scouts had been dispatched to unveil the ancient entrances to the Dwarves' underground home. Even for the Ezrians, who were native to the mountains in which bore their name, finding such entrances was akin to locating a proverbial needle in a haystack. For days, the Ezrian Mountains from the Western Chain to the Eastern Chain were filled with gliding and diving Avians seeking these entrances. They flocked to and fro as singles, in pairs and large patrols. They navigated ancient mines, explored intricate cave formations and scoured the deep mountains in search of the ancient entrances. They found nothing in their initial searches, though one particular incident occurred that would go unnoticed for a long time since those involved would never return to their respective patrols.

Talon Leader Varnust had ordered two scouts to fly along a small and dry ravine to look for anything that stuck out to them. Varnust, as a Talon Leader, had less responsibility in searching and more responsibility in flying amongst the clouds and directing the troops under his command where to look. The routine was simple: they complied, searched and took to the sky to meet up on Varnusts' wing and be given additional orders. The two scouts never returned. Varnust informed his secondary to take his position while he investigated. He pulled his wings tight to his back and dove toward the earth like a rocket. As the earth neared, Varnust spead his wings and slowed his descent. His eagle like features darted to and fro, the cap across his feathered head kept the wind from impeding his ability to look around in flight.

He followed the ravine to it's end when he saw it .. saw him. One of his two scouts, bloodied and unmoving lay on his back with his wings bent and torn at various angles. The body began to move! From his aerial perspective, it seemed as if the scouts body was moving on its own accord, but a large overhanging rock concealed the perpetrators who would dare to drag the dead Avians body into the enclosure. Varnust dove with all his might, a talon dropped to his waist and wretched the blade from it's sheath. These miscreants would pay for the death of a fellow Ezrian!

He cleared the outcropping, the eclipse of morning sunlight made it difficult to see whom was dragging the dead Avian, but they were short, stocky and there were two of them. Varnust swung with reckless abandon as his thin body veered past them. There was little room to stop, Varnust wrapped his wings around him and slammed harshly across the ground. He was quick to stand, blade in hand. His eyes shot to his scout and the one who had caught his blade. Dwarves. The blade had cut the bearded menace in the throat but failed to decapitate him, but he was dead. A disturbance of several small rocks to Varnusts' flank pulled his attention from the dead scout.

Varnust barely had enough time to react, they came from seemingly nowhere. One wielded a large, thin double sided battle axe and the other carried with him a sword and shield. The first shot in with an overhead strike that was parried with Varnust' blade that rang out with an audible clang! The Dwarf with sword and shield intended to end the conflict but Varnust pulled from the initial parry and offered his own swing at the second Dwarves' weapon that ended in a second clang! The two Dwarves continued their assault which pushed Varnust backward toward the cave wall. A break in the Dwarves' uncoordinated defense was what gave the Talon Leader breathing room. The Dwarf's continued assault had tired him, and maintaining a solid defense against the Avian's quick strikes with only a battle axe was difficult. A third strike slipped through and sliced the Dwarf across the shoulder and chest, he fell back and out of the fight. The duel between Varnust and the dwarf with the short sword and small, rectangular shield was no less vicious.

The Talon Leader observed that this Dwarf was a professional and would not be easily dissuaded from the attack, but Varnust pressed forward. Clang was the sound that filled the cavern as the Dwarf raised his shield to defend another side swipe from Varnust fine blade. Clang was the sound as the Dwarf drove forward but was parried at Varnust' whim. They battled back and forth, oblivious to the world around them. The Dwarf was practical, disciplined. The Avian was passionate and furious. Varnust' bones ached, his arms felt heavy. He faltered from the attack and took two steps back but the Dwarf gave no quarter. He advanced and thrust his shield forward into the Avians frail frame. Varnust attempted to shuffle from the shields reach but felt the full impact of over two and a half hundred pounds of Dwarven muscle slam into him. Varnust hit the ground hard, his side on fire. One of his bones were broken, he couldn't tell which but he knew that much. Each breath was a rapid exercise that gave a slight audible whistle. He rolled from his stomach to his back to see the Dwarf stalking toward him. The Dwarf nobly dropped his shield and raised his sword. Varnust' life had come to an end.

Eastern Ezrian Mountain Chain

The small Ezrian army stopped just as the mountains broke. Light Infantry that covered the sky landed in a small meeting area while they waited for cavalry and heavy infantry to continue. They would require further orders as well a a ledger documenting what troops were present to ensure order in the case of battle. They could advance out of their mountain chain and into the Mabiyan Plains, but it might be declared an act of war, though the only ones who knew such an answer would be the owners of the plains. Flying, the Ezrians could reach the first establishment in a single days march. Marching in a convoy would take two days.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

-- Agricultural Minister Sakra has been given the terms of the farmers. One of the options should be chosen.

-- Battle Captain Kirhae and his scouts document information on the Elvish City of Shurmanda. However, they took off in the wrong direction and will not reach the next Elvish city to continue gathering information for two ModMarks.

-- Talon Leader Varnust and two scouts go missing. An alleged entrance to the Dwarves empire is thought to be near the end of the southern mountains, south of Agrinia. Where however is still a mystery. No signs of Varnust or his scouts are ever found or seen again. The search continues but Ezria now has a very general idea of where one of the entrances is.

-- The 1,500 Ezrians moving east stop at the mountains edge. They can be ordered to continue on however at the risk of retaliation (or cooperation) by the Mabiyans. Exact information on the leadership and composition of the 1,500 strong force is required.

Southern Mountains:
'' Something is wrong. '' Tetrach Suren rumbled to quietly to Battle Captain Maidar whom had been scanning the sky for the return of Talon Leader Varnus and the two missing scouts. It had been hours since he had departed to search the area where the two soldiers had disappeared.'' They have been gone for far too long. '' He said, his voice kept low so that the other soldiers wouldn't grow alarmed by his words.

Maidar dragged his talons across his blade, an instinctive motion. His feathers were standing on end, a sign that the Ezrian was just as anxious and worried as the Tetrach. '' One man going missing is one thing for there are dangerous things in these mountains..but not Varnus. '' It was widely acknowledged that Varnus had been one of the best scouts in the regiment. '' Perhaps he found the entrance to the stunted one's lair, I will consult with the Archon. Ready the men..'' Maidar said finally after a long pause.

The search for the three men would begin at dawn but not with a paltry handful of troops. The Archon had taken the threat posed by the loss of his men seriously and the fact that they had stumbled upon the enemy and met their demise as more than likely. Which meant that the dwarven folk were hostile. Who knew how many were on the surface now? How many were waiting in ambush? The entire tumen of 300 troops begin the precarious hunt for the three lost scouts. They had a rough idea as to where the enemy lurked and Archon was determined to comb every inch until they found the entrance to the dwarven Kingdom. He had sent a courier in the night with the news that they were closing in on the Dwarves to Hulagu whom had immediately dispatched the elite Imperial Guard to provide additional heavy support for the lightly armed scouts. The entrance once discovered was to be immediately contained by the Ezrian troops and placed under heavy guard while an expedition could be prepared to venture inside.

Agrina
Agricultural Ministry

FILTHY EARTH SCRATCHER! Agricultural Minster Torgrul Sakra nearly screamed. Those large shoulders flexing as he fought the urge to rip the farmers head from his body. The price the farmer was demanding was outrageous but...Torgrul had to look at it with a long term perspective the King needed these taxes to fund the Army and other projects but the farmers would cause havoc if they were not listened to...A compromise had to be maintained.. Damn them all to hell...The farmer would get his due and the King would be merciful to the farmers plight.

Summary:
With the disappearance of the scouts, the Ezrian military believes they have a rough idea as to where the entrance to the dwarven Kingdom is and launches a large search to pinpoint its exact location. Expecting an ambush, elements of the light infantry will scout ahead of the main force in an attempt to discover the location before relaying the information to the rest of the column whom will then move on it in strength.

Commander: Battle Master Kulash

-300 Light Infantry
-100 Heavy Cavalry
-300 Heavy Infantry

Torgul chooses option one: Give the farmer 3 Economic Points and decrease the Taxation Rate by 2 Economic Points to show Ezria's merciful intent. This will continue to fill Ezria's coffers and keep the farmers quiet for a while.

Dawn had broken and the sun revealed the flash of sunlight off of weapons and armor as the column moved forward. Circling above the column were sections of the light infantry. Battle Master Kulash had detached more than 100 from the main body of the march to scout ahead for enemy ambushes and to sight the dwarven entrance to the camp. The Talon leaders (in groups of twenty) had been ordered not to engage the enemy if they were spotted. Each was armed with a battle horn to signal that they had made contact with the enemy force, they were the eyes and ears of the Ezrian force and Kulash was confident that he would have ample warning if the dwarves had emerged from their holes and were attempting to effect an ambush on his men.

Kulash did not know much of the stunted folk, in his fathers time they had emerged from their underground lair to demand from King Zengari that they leave their sacred homeland, the dwarves claimed to own both land and sky. The response from the great Zengari? He had all but one of the diplomatic party drawn and quartered, leaving their entrails to be eaten by the hatchlings. To the lone survivor he had calmly placed the ambassador's severed head into his arms and told him to return his 'answer' to his master. The outcome had been over a century of bloody skirmishes. King Casmir and War Master Hulagu it seemed were taking a different view of the problem. The dwarves weren't just a nuisance but a threat that now had to be exterminated and Kulash was only to happy to carry out that order..soon they would discover the entrance to the dwarven caverns. General Hulagu had promised him the full might of the Ezrian army to see the dwarven menace crushed.

Eastern Frontier
Near Mabiya
Unlike his counterpart Battlemaster Kulash, Battlemaster Idrik Corba was chafing at the leash. He was not crashing across the enemy frontier to burn and slaughter. The Ezrian's we're here primarily as a show of force and only to venture across the border if the Mabiyan's rejected their demands. The 1,500 man army was clearly a force designed to be highly mobile, to strike fast and strike hard. The footslogging heavy infantry would not be find following them in this campaign. His army was strictly composed of a mixture of light infantry and light cavalry.

His orders were to raid Mabiyan settlements if negotiations fell through and then scamper back across the Ezrian border. The Ezrian troops had stopped just shy..just a few more mile's and they would be inside Mabiya. Instead, Corba was to sit on his feathers while Kulash seized the bloody glory. But Corba was a seasoned soldier with over a century of following the commands of his King, he would not disobey now.

Eastern Force:
Commander: Battlemaster Corba
Contingent:
800 light infantry
700 light cavalry

Summary:
Battle Master Kulash continues his advance towards the alleged entrance to the Dwarven Kingdom, taking many precautions to ensure he isn't ambushed.

Battlemaster Corba in the east halts his army just short of the border and waits for the order to cross.

Kingdom of Ezria

Agrina

Only two days had passed since the farmers' riot and their dispersal following negotiations with the Minister of Agriculture. The reports had already arrived ahead of them and a small detachment of guards had been sent to their predicted entrance of arrival long before they showed up. Forty humans with two wooden wagons. Every one of the humans was a male and was wearing a mishmash of armor and carried a variety of different weapons (a handful of Dwarven crossbows among them). They approached meticulously, but without hesitance. The guards stopped them just short of where the first major Ezrian buildings started.

" Hold there, Human! " The Talon Leader exclaimed, almost as a caw. The leader, easily identified by his charismatic nature raised two hands to indicate submission, half turned to one of his lessers and motioned for them to bring the prisoner up. The Talon Leader, understanding the importance of the situation immediately had the Human leader and the Dwarven prisoner brought into Agrina with a handful of Avian guards. They would be brought to whatever legitimate center of power could be present to negotiate with the humnan leader regarding the prisoner. They would find the Dwarf untalkative and stern, but the human, who the Avian leader would find to be named Tyre was almost certain that this particular Dwarf was a politician of sorts and they had followed them north for almost an entire day before ransacking them and taking the Dwarf prisoner.

Although King Casimir himself was not present, the Avian leader(s) in Agrina would have to continue negotiations to find out what came about of this new happening.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

-- Human rebels in the Ezrian Mountains have attacked a Dwarven diplomatic convoy and took a prisoner. They took the prisoner to Agrina. The Dwarf will not talk, and Tyre has made it clear he will sell the Dwarf to the Avians but will not allow them to tortue the Dwarf unless they have purchased him off Tyre's hands. Options:
-- Pay Tyre 6 Economic Points to buy the Dwarf. The Avians can they kill, torture or do whatever with the Dwarf as they please.
-- Decline and Tyre and his convoy will leave.
-- Take the Dwarf under force, which will make Tyre and subsequently his 40 man convoy hostile. Tyre and his men would thus fight back.

Agrina:
Governor General Temur was not a man to be trifled with today. His city was facing annihilation, and every available soldier that could be mustered was marching to join with Battlemaster Kulash. Temur had been overseeing the distribution of supplies when he was informed of a most peculiar visitor awaiting him within his palace. What greeted him was a stunted creature and a man-thing. The caw that left him was laughter full of irony as two of Ezria's greatest enemies entered his hall. The one called Tyre explained that he had ambushed the dwarf and his caravan. Despite his haggard appearance, his clothing indicated him as someone of status. Temur was tempted to kill Tyre, he'd be ridding himself of a problem but who knew how many other rebels were lurking within the mountains? His death could provoke retribution and the Ezrian's hardly needed that now and he had done him a service. Hefting a bag of coins within his massive talons, Temur slammed the pouch into Tyre's hand.

'' Remember man thing stay away from Ezrian convoys or I will have you skinned and your flesh fed to my children..If you wish for further reward and plunder then have you and your folk attack the Dwarven supply lines that are following their army. They are weak and straggling. Easy pickings for men of your talents..King Casimir would look greatly on your folk if you did this for him. '' He said staring at the man before gesturing for his guards to drag the Dwarf away.

'' Take him to the dungeons and put him to the question.. I want information on these dwarves on their cities, their numbers, their customs, EVERYTHING. DON'T KILL HIM. '' Temur boomed. Within an hour the first high pitched screams could be heard from the bowels of the dungeon. The Ezrian torturers first draped a cloth over the dwarf's face, then promptly began pouring water onto the rag..simulating the effects of drowning. If that didn't get the dwarf talking, well there was other methods....

Summary:
Governor Temur pays Tyre for the Dwarf but before he goes offers Tyre and his folk greater rewards and plunder if they attack the Dwarven supply columns. The dwarven diplomat is tortured for information.

Several miles outside Coronne:
The Kingdom was under invasion, the Royal Armies being marshaled for war and being sent off to not to distant battlefields to hold the Dwarves at bay. However, for the rest of the Kingdom life toiled onwards. There was nothing they could do to affect the outcome, their fate was out of their hands. But one could trust in King Casimir and his judgement. For the surveying team, their contribution to the war effort was finding raw materials that the Kingdom could exploit. After all, money was the sinews of war not just the fighting men on the front.

The King had commissioned surveying teams to hunt for mineral deposits in the old mines and if possible open up new sites for exploration. The engineer Batu was the leader of one of these surveying teams. He had lead his men to one of the old gold mines several miles outside of Coronne, it had ran dry centuries ago but Batu and his men were not content with that. There were always new veins to find and these mountains had more to give. More gold meant money for the Royal Treasury, and if they were lucky to find significant iron deposits..that meant newer and better weapons could be developed from them. While this mine might not lead to pay dirt, perhaps one of the other teams would have better luck.

Summary:
The engineer Batu and other survey teams hunt for new resources.

Kingdom of Ezria

Agrina,
Unknown Location

The Dwarven diplomat was no easy crack and time was on his side. His captors continued to press him, though like all Dwarves, he was as study as stone. He revealed small amounts of information such as where he was going, but that was about it. He told the Ezrians that ancient Dwarven maps revealed human kingdoms to the north, but the Dwarves themselves were unaware of whether or not they were still there. He gave little information on anything related to the Republic, and for that his torture was excruciating. The Ezrians were as pragmatic as they were cruel, and Ambassador Firestone was one of the first Dwarves to learn this.

Northeastern Ezrian Mountains

" . . Hm. " His name irrelevant in the annals of Ezrian history, Tarru was no different than most other native Ezrians. He was compassionate about the kingdom and the superiority of the Avian race. When ordered, he obeyed. He was part of a team searching for new resources in the area, and his discovery would go down in history. Tarru had been tasked with searching along a small gully while other members of his team searched a half dozen ancient mines, some Dwarven and some Avian. Tarru however would be the one to bask in the glory. He swooped down, an object of peculiarity having caught his sharp vision. He pulled his wings up and out to slow his descent and dropped his feet to the earthen floor. He bent and scooped up the object, eyed it than moved along a little further. There! Encrusted in the rock was another one, but much larger. There was a slight incline, and from the top of the incline he could see half of the small gully he transposed always had them, protruding here or there. Rubies, shining and vibrant. Tarru flapped his swings and took to the sky to report to his Talon Master what he had found. This discovery would need to be conveyed to the leaders in Agrina, or the capital if necessary!

-- Ambassador Firestone reveals his mission but is resistant about revealing other information about the Republic of Ever-Winter.
-- Scouts seeking new resources find a Rare Goods: Jewels resource in Northeastern Ezria.

Agrina Dungeons:
'' The stunted one refuses to speak the secrets of his race. '' The Talon Leader growled, the jail guard dragging his talon along the dwarf's jaw to draw a thin bead of blood from the cut. For the past six hours the dwarf had been nearly drowned, beaten, and now the Ezrian's continued their work. It was truly a war of attrition, getting the dwarf to utter words was like trying to draw blood from a damned stone. But he had revealed one valuable thing, the dwarves we're looking for allies from the rumored nearby human city states...but what was far more important to the Ezrian's was the Dwarves' themselves. Even after all these centuries of fighting one another, neither Ezria nor Everwinter knew much about the other.

'' Perhaps we could cut off it's fingers one at a time. '' Another of the dwarf's offered as a suggestion. '' Use flames to cauterize the wound so that he won't bleed to death. We could make this a long slow game. '' He growled, his hard eyes locking on the dwarf whom seemed indifferent to the tortures coming his way..

'' There is no need to go to that extreme..yet. Put him on the rack..that should get him talking. COME STUNTED ONE! I WANT TO HEAR YOU SPEAK! Where are the entrances to the Dwarven Kingdom? '' The Ezrian's voice boomed throughout the torture chamber as the dwarf was attached to the rack..slowly his arms and legs would be stretched for each moment he remained silent. The popping of joints was audible as the torture proceeded. Twice they had to revive him when he had passed out, the jailers knew that this night they had their work cut out for them.

Northeastern Ezria:
Within hours of the gems discovery, the news had filtered its way back to Coronne. Already teams of Ezrian's we're beginning their trek to the dig site along with a small host of tools and mules carrying their equipment. With the Dwarven armies so close, the King had even dispatched 100 of the Batauur to protect the civilians from either dwarven scouting parties that had managed to slip past the Royal Army, or the notorious human rebel folk whom still choked the mountain passes, attacking and killing targets of opportunity. The project was important to Ezria's rapidly expanding economy, and with the war going on..it needed all the funds that it could squeeze from the Earth.

Summary:
-The Ezrian jailers continue their work on prying more information from the Dwarven diplomat Firestone.

-Ezrian workers protected by Royal soldiers begin to mine the jewels.

Royal Palace: Coronne / Royal Council
'' We must evacuate Agrina. '' One of the King's advisors whispered furiously in Casimir's ear whom was quietly brooding over the map of the Dwarven advance. Over 8,000 souls populated the city and the Dwarven army was on it's doorstep. If the garrison were to be defeated...the consequences would be devastating.

'' No. '' Casimir was pragmatic and coldly calculating. '' If we evacuate the city, what will the soldiers have to fight for? Empty buildings? The property of the governor? Would any of you give your lives for that? '' Casimir's voice boomed throughout the chamber. The flurry of lies that left their mouths disgusted him, he saw it in their eyes. No, he was making the right decision.

'' They will see a city that is alive, that is pinning all of their hopes on them. They will see the men, women, and hatchlings that they are supposed to protect. And they would fight and die for that. The same would be done if we invaded the under cities of the Dwarves. Dying for the Crown is not enough anymore..this is more than just about protecting my bloodline. It is about protecting the citizens of Ezria..whether they be rich or poor. Agrina is to be declared sacred ground. All efforts to hold onto it must be made. The Dwarven army will break here. '' He said pounding his fist on the map of the city.

'' Send a courier to Kulash relating this. Hulagu already knows my wishes on this matter. '' He said taking a piece of parchment from a nearby scribe and hurriedly writing the orders..attaching a smaller note that if the city could not be held than the population was to retreat with the army. Casimir wasn't an idiot, while leaving the population in place would be good for morale..a General could not be hamstrung by his leaders orders. If retreat was necessary, then he trusted in Kulash's and Hulagu's judgement.

-------------------------------------------------------

Coronne:
By now news of Ambassador Firestone's mission had trickled back to the court of King Casimir whom was intrigued of foreign human Kingdom's beyond the mountains. To the East, the Mabiyan's sat..and underneath the mountains the damn Dwarven underfolk toiled..but the rest of the world? No one knew. Which was why an expedition team was being assembled of twelve Ezrian's whom would head towards the rumored lands that Firestone had marched towards. Lead by Ambassador Batyn with a considerably smaller escort, he saw that it was for the best.. the appearance of the majestic Ezrian's had a habit of frightening lesser beings and more than a hundred heavily armed and armored Kashig at this back might make the local population act harshly. The Kingdom of Ezria was continually looking to expand and to establish at the least cordial relationships with the local inferior populace. It was important to know what lay beyond the Kingdom's borders and plan accordingly for the future, be it war, peace, or commerce.

Summary:
King Casimir decides against evacuating civilians from Agrina at least at the outset of the campaign, instead to allow the civilians to retreat with the army if Kulash and Hulagu are defeated in the field.

Ambassador Batyn leads a small group towards a rumored Human nation (Coalition of Shinra) on Ezria's border in the hopes of establishing diplomatic contact.

Kingdom of Ezria

Shurmanda,
Former Capital of the Elvish Kingdom of Mabiya

The provincial government had fallen apart when the King and his two children were found dead only days after the first Ambassador from the Kingdom of Ezria had arrived. The Royal Guard, trained for nearly a hundred years before being elected to their post, as well as the Magisters of the Circle of Wizardry gave the castle and room of the monarch a thorough investigation before concluding what had happened. Somebody had entered through the rafters where the belltop sat, navigated down into the castle, killed two guards and eventually got to the sleeping King and his two children. Three six inch long, pearly white feathers found near the belltop gave major credence to the identification of the assailant. However, before they could act the Royal Senate was brought together to debate the issue of a new hereditary ruler. The King had no remaining kin, nor was a distant relative available.

The Royal Court existed as a temporary buffer between anarchy and order for nine days before 2,700 Ezrians marched directly into prestigious city and called for the governor's admittance immediately. He obliged, though hesitantly and Battlemaster Sordu promptly handed the parchment for annexation over to the governor. Without a monarch, the governor could do little. He remained ambivalent and the Avian Battlemaster had the man taken away and killed. Sordu, at the beckoning of King Casmir, willingly told those few Elves gathered in the square that open revolt would be met with lethal force and that now the Elves of Mabiya belonged to the Greater Kingdom of Ezria. By that night, over two hundred unwilling Mabiyans lay dead and fourteen Ezrians had been killed. Battlemaster Sordu made note that in one particular incident, one Elf, dressed in silken robes of crimson summarily killed four Ezrians by whispering a few words and conjuring a ball of majestic fire. This strange ability was foreign to Sordu and he surmised King Casmir would want to know about it.

ISSUE #1

Greatest Lord Casmir,

It has come to my intention that although the Mabiyans will yield under our rule, without a monarch they have resorted to violence and thievery. Their great kingdom was devastated within only a few days and now stands on the brink of ruin. I summarily request you send at coinage in the amount of 420,000 pieces so that we might begin reconstructing the former Elvish Kingdom of Mabiya to a level worthy of the Ezrian people. Although we will do without, it will make taming the pointy-eared people's much better than it currently is.
Your Humblest Servant,
Provincial Governor Sarras.

Empire of Ezria (C) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Empire of Ezria (C)   Empire of Ezria (C) Icon_minitimeSat Mar 12, 2011 5:44 pm

Mabiya Province:
Shurmanda:
It had been a near bloodless takeover as far as invasions were concerned. The sudden death of the King of Mabiya had sent his country spiraling into collapse and made it ripe for foreign intervention by a country that had long since coveted Mabiya's resources and its access to sea ports. Rumors said that the Ezrian's had engineered the King's death, but there was no proof to this however beyond well placed suspicion (and some feathers at the scene of the crime, but that was circumstantial). The Royal Ezrian Army dispatched from the border had quickly crossed into Mabiya with no resistance whatsoever until they marched into the capital. Governor Masivint had balked at the prospect of foreign troops in the capital, and remained defiant against annexation. That defiance cost him his life as he was dragged into the dungeons and beheaded.

A new provincial governor was declared in the former Mabiyan capital, that news was met with violence by a handful of elves in the square whom had gathered, curious at the thousands of soldiers whom had became entrenched in their nations capital. The battle had been brief against the dissenters and their defiance had come to nothing. Over two hundred Elves had died and some had demonstrated startling abilities in what prisoners were calling 'magic'. The King had ordered that special attention be given to hunting these individuals down.

The next few days saw the Avian troops solidify their hold on the capital and keep the various factions in the capital at bay. A purge was also quietly beginning to take place starting within the Royal Palace and in the former Mabiyan Royal Army to crush dissent to the takeover of the country. Royalist sympathizers to the Mabiyan Crown were arrested and confined to the dungeons in order to be 're-educated' to lay their allegiances with King Casimir. The former ambassador to the Royal Court was able to point out those most likely to rebel under Ezrian rule and the elements at court whom would help prop up the new regime.

To keep the charade of legitimacy in the eyes of the Elven people, a number of Elves were declared as 'advisors' to the new provincial governor. An Elf named Corvus (a nobleman belonging to the Mabiyan court) was promoted to Prefect and placed in charge of administering Shurmanda, but the real power always laid with the Governor whom had the backing of the Ezrian garrison in the city, controlled the courts, and various other elements of authority in the city that made Shurmanda function. Corvus and those like him were figureheads to keep the population content.

The proclamation declared from the new Governor was a simple one:

'' Due to the political instability and the prospect of civil war, the Kingdom of Ezria has intervened to restore order and prevent bloodshed within the Mabiyan nation. All Mabiyan cultural values will be respected, the Mabiyan's will have the right to continue worshipping their God's in whatever capacity they fashion, as of now there will be no further rioting or looting, all Mabiyan's will have the same rights as Ezrian citizens and will be equal in the eyes of the law. All Mabiyan's will have the same employment and economic opportunities as Ezrian's. The former Kingdom of Mabiya is now a territorial Province of the Ezrian Empire. ''

The King had also agreed to Governor Sarras's request for coin to begin rebuilding the Kingdom and its industry. 420,000 gold pieces had been sent from the Royal Treasury (under heavy escort) to fill the Governors coffers and begin pumping much needed money into the local Mabiyan economy.

The Ezrian's were also making moves to buy the loyalty of the former Mabiyan Royal Army. The Mabiyan soldiers had been promised induction into the ranks of the Ezrian Army instead of being disbanded if they swore loyalty to King Casimir. Senior officers however, were often replaced by Avians if the Mabiyan's in question proved unreliable. In time, the King's aim was to ease the Avian presence on the streets of Shurmada and other cities and instead rely on Elvish soldiers to keep the peace. The Ezrian Army had also dispatched surveyors to Mabiyan resource points to determine if any remained intact after the collapse of the country.

Summary:

-6 EP is spent rebuilding infrastructure and on other projects to revive the Mabiyan economy and rebuild the land.

-An Ezrian puppet government is installed in Shurmanda.

-An official proclamation promises fair treatment, respect for cultural values, and equal rights for the Mabiyan population.

-Instead of disbanding Mabiyan military formations, the King has ordered that several units be kept on with the eventual hope that they will takeover patrolling Shurmanda rather than the Avians to ease ethnic tensions.

-Surveyors are dispatched to hunt for the rumored gold mines that Mabiya possessed in order to discover if any remain intact.

Empire of Ezria (C) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Empire of Ezria (C)   Empire of Ezria (C) Icon_minitimeTue Mar 15, 2011 12:21 pm

Mabiya Province:
Shurmanda:
On the streets of Shurmanda, the presence of the Avian's seemed to decrease in the days since the violence in the square. The great bulk of the army had retired back to its barracks near the Governor's Palace, once the Royal Palace belonging to the Mabiyan Royal Family. In it's place a strange sight greeted Shurmanda's citizens. Elves bearing the Royal Crest not of Mabiya but of Ezria and garbed in Ezrian uniforms. Six hundred Elves had been recruited from existing Mabiyan military formations, having sworn their allegiance to the Ezrian crown they had been immediately put into place in order to police their own citizens and ensure that the Avian's didn't violate local customs.

The Avians were present but in minor ways, the King was doing his best to assimilate the Elves peacefully into the Ezrian nation and that meant that the appearance of equality had to be given at all times...nor did he wish to rub salt into the wounds of the conquered. In addition in the reduction of Avian soldiers on the streets, the King had pumped in massive economic aid into the country to the province to rebuild its shattered civil institutions and the local economy. It was all an attempt to pacify the knife ears, Casimir was all too aware of the simmering tension boiling in the society. Complacency could turn to revolt and it was something that the King was eager not to see. He had enough problems with the Dwarves continuing to assault his holdings near Agrina.

Which brought the King's advisors another reason to consider Mabiya Province a strategically important piece of the Kingdom of Ezria. First and foremost was its access to ports and the sea lanes that lay beyond..including the possibility of encountering unknown cultures and developing trade links. Secondly, agriculturally speaking the lowlands were far more fertile than the Ezrian mountain chain. Which meant that the Ezrian's could depend on a stable food source other than Agrina to feed the populace. King Casimir had stressed the great importance to Governor Serras of developing Mabiya agriculturally and allowing for the planting of new crops.

-------------------------------
Shurmanda Naval Yards:
Elements of the Mabiyan Army were not the only things that were being kept on within the Ezrian military structure. Nearly the entire former Mabiyan Navy had been seized as well. It's crews incorporated into a newly created branch. The Ezrian Royal Navy. Except their wasn't much Ezrian about this Navy. The great portion of the existing crews were Elves whom were teaching their Avian counterparts seamanship. The King had even gone to extreme lengths to ensure that the Ezrian Navy remained competent and professional. Including promoting a former Mabiyan Admiral named Laeron Caranir to the position of Battlemaster.

In the end, Casimir had little choice. The Avian's had no experience with ships while their new Elven brethren did. They had a new coastline to defend from possible threats and for that King Casimir required ships. Of course he had dispatched Avian officers to the crews in order to ensure that they remained loyal but he was confident that they would. After all, Casimir had been extremity generous. A more barbaric ruler might have slaughtered the entire Elven population to create more space for the Avians. The current fleet was small, a handful of ships that would for now be used for coastal patrols. Two biremes and two triremes, they would be useful eyes and ears for the Royal Army..and in time their ranks would grow to carry the Ezrian people far beyond these shores.

------------------------------------
Coronne:
Royal Proclamations were generally never popular things but in the end King Casimir had little choice if he wanted to defend Agrina. New defenses to keep the Dwarves out would have to be built and for that he required money. It would no doubt generate unrest but if it was a choice between having riots and having his people starve because Agrina had been conquered, then Casimir would always choose the former. The proclamation was being read in Coronne and major cities and villages throughout Ezria, it's message was a call for the people to respond to patriotism and contribute to the defense of their nation.

'' People of Ezria, for weeks now our armies have been involved in battles with the Dwarven folk whom have come from under the mountains intent on destroying the Ezrian nation. These uncivilized barbarians have dared to attack Agrina. While our armies have been triumphant in the field (a lie, the situation in Agrina was fluid and unsure) new defenses must be built to ensure that the food supply at Agrina is stable and to protect the local populace. Agrina is the first line of defense for the country and as such new troops and new defensive positions will be created for the protection of the Ezrian heartland. Additional coin must be raised to pay for this and as such taxes shall be raised for this cycle. However, the following tax collection cycle will see taxes fall back to previous levels. His Majesty knows that each and every Ezrian, down to the last Hatchling will fulfill their patriotic duty and contribute to the war effort. ''

The King's agents had been ordered across the country to watch for trouble makers and Ezrian garrison commanders had been ordered to treat any demonstrations against the new taxes with restraint...but at the same time to ensure law and order.

[Tax rate raised to 14 but will revert back to 10 the follownig week]

Summary:
- Two companies of elves (HC) are recruited into the Ezrian Royal Army and begin patrolling Shurmanda. In the aims of reducing ethnic tensions, large portions of the Avian's withdraw back to their barracks.

-The Ezrian Royal Navy is established but it is largely crewed by Elves. A former Mabiyan Admiral named Laeron Caranir is promoted to Battlemaster to oversee the development of the fleet. Two biremes and two triremes are launched as part of the effort.

-The King orders Governor Serras to develop agricultural farmlands in Mabiya to provide a second food source for the country other than Agrina.

-Taxes are raised to pay for new defenses at Agrina, the King's agents have been ordered to watch for signs of potential unrest.

Moderation Mark

Mabiya District

Though the transition from self rule to occupied annexation by the Ezrians had been rather seamless to the potential all out chaos that could of come from the collapse of the government, not all went according to the Avians' plans. With those elves of the Royal Army disbanding for those who would not serve under the avians, word reached the garrison commander of a General Silias Windsum who had gone rogue with some 600 soldiers. The garrison troops searched for the wayward troops with no success since the general and his men had gone to ground.

It wasn't until two weeks later that word had surfaced, but in a most unpleasant way. Three garrison soldiers were found strung up just within the central square of the capital one morning. The avians had died horribly with multiple arrows sticking from them like pin cushions. One poor fellow looked as if he had been roasted over a fire and another had his wings removed while he was still alive from the look of agony on the fellows face. Around all three was a stone placard that read 'Mabiya for Mabiyans'.

The incident in the square wasn't the last to be heard of General Silias and is troops who were calling themselves, Thaedys'm Cal [Freedom's Hand]. Elves who were two friendly to the Ezrian overseers would disappear overnight and when reported, the garrison and Mabiyan troops keeping order in the land would only find the words 'Ezrian Whore' etched in glowing runes across the doors. The actions of Thaedys'm Cal were a minor irritant in the provincial governor's side, though the potential was there for a complex problem.

One day one of the elf advisors came in to meet with Governor Serra, a sheet of fine parchment in his hand. The elf deposited it on the avian's desk with some disgust, evident that he didn't agree with what the message said. Governor Serra picked up the parchment and began to read while the elf spoke.

Parchment Read:
The Ezrians are no more than an evil blight on our beloved land. It was no coincidence that our king and his family were murdered when the birdies came to our kingdom and so conveniently had troops ready to move in to stabilize the kingdom. They are the cause for our kingdom's misfortune and should be raised up against. Don't let them blind you to reality and join Thaedys'm Cal in throwing off these invaders.

"Those fools are just going to make things worst since we have everything stable and the food is enough in surplus to trade with."

Governor Serra nodded his agreement as he set the parchment back down. He would need to do something about the situation before it got out of hand. More so because it could potentially harm Ezria's war efforts against the dwarves.

Agrina Dungeons
The jailers in the dungeons of Agrina had been working on the dwarf prisoner around the clock trying to pry information out of the man. With the battle moving to just a couple miles outside the city, they had stepped up their treatment. Finally through broken teeth the dwarf screamed, sucking in painful breaths through the various broken bones.

"I'll talk, just no more I beg you."

The jailer administering to the dwarves torture, looked up from the table which had various blades and blunt objects on it. He smiled before going out of the cell to fetch the warden with the good news, leaving the other jailer to cover up the dwarf's wounds so he didn't look so gruesome. A little while later the warden came in with an officer from the Ezrian military, a map of the area known to the avians.

The officer laid the map across the dwarf's lap with a slight cocky smirk on his face. A small writing utensil was also produced and set on the map for the dwarf to use.

"Alright my friend, you just mark the locations of your kingdom's entrances and we will make the pain go away."

The dwarf grumbled as he took up the writing utensil and marked two small x's on the map deep within the mountains. They were hard to reach entrances which is why he picked them out of all the ones he knew, plus there would be other obstacles as well. He just wanted the pain to stop, so giving them this would at least help.

"T'ese be te only two I swear. We don't 'ave much use fer te surface world."

Well he lied, but with how much torment they had been inflicting on him it was a very believable lie since they had many more entrances than that. Plus there was more honor in protecting his people than lying about the entrances. The officer smiled taking up the map and nodding to the warden. The man left to bring the map to his superiors while the warden took up a knife and slit the dwarf's throat. There was no more need for the dwarf after all and they couldn't exactly waste more time on taking care of the man's injuries.

-While the former Kingdom of Mabiya integrates smoothly as an Ezrian protectorate, there are those that would rather see a free Mabiya. Among the troublemakers is General Silias Windsum and 600 soldiers who followed the general. They have started calling themselves Thaedys'm Cal [Freedom's Hand] and have been killing Ezrian soldiers as well as causing the disappearance of elves supporting the occupiers. Production though of food an equipment though continues on par with the stimulus of funds from the Ezrians.

- The torture of the dwarf prisoner that was purchased off the human outlaws finally pays off. After weeks of constant torture, the dwarf ambassador breaks and reveals two entrance locations to Everwinter's underground kingdom. Though he gave them the locations, both entrances are deep within the Ezria mountain chain.

Leader: General Silias Windsum

Mabiya Province:
Governor's Palace:
'' If you let me just round up a few of these Elves and set an example.. '' Battlemaster Sordu growled, leaning over the Governor's desk. Talon's extended and grinding into the fine wood. The hard stare from the Governor made him back away but only slightly as Serras seared the younger Battlemaster with his eyes alone.

'' I said no. If we followed your route, we would only be serving the needs of our enemies and alienating the population.. Bring your troops back into the city, increase patrols..especially night patrols. I want soldiers in every district and I want the guard at the city gates doubled. No arms to be worn by citizens within the city limits, blades are to be confiscated. We will use our contacts within the Elven community to discover where these rebels are hiding exactly. Until then there are to be no reprisals on the civilian population. If you encounter a rebel, he is to be tried and jailed. There will be no executions.. '' He said inhaling a hard breath before continuing, his gaze pinning the Battlemaster to the wall.

'' The last thing we need is for a martyr to serve as a rallying cry. Remember Sordu, these pointed eared one's are inferior to us but they are proud people with a rich tradition. We will give them respect but at the same time, show our strength. Tell your men to exercise restraint above all else or I swear by the Ancestors Battlemaster, you will be sent to the mines..along with any man who disobeys my orders! '' The Battlemaster stiffened but bowed in the end. He knew that Serras held the ultimate authority here and the ear of the King, if he ever wanted to ascend to the post of War Master one day then he had to play politics.

--------------------------------------------
Shurmanda City:
The Avian troops were on the streets of Shurmanda in force upon being ordered back into the city from the barracks. Over 3,000 Elven and Avian troops alike had begun to secure the city. Patrols in districts were made in force and far more frequent, with the numbers rarely leaving company strength. The Ezrian's were leery of ambushes by opposition troops. Meanwhile, the Governor had tapped into his spies within the city for information leading to the capture or killing of this rebel General. He had to learn more about him, and foremost he had to find him. Preferably, the rebel leader needed to be taken alive. Serras was all too aware that if Windsum was killed, it would only inspire those like him to rise up against their Avian betters.

The Governor was counting on one more factor other than complacency to keep the bulk of the Elven population in check. Jobs, the flood of money into the Mabiyan economy had created a boom in terms of job growth. There was now for the first time in Ezrian history, a vast surplus of food that could be traded and sold. The Agricultural Sector wasn't the only thing that had made a rapid recovery, Ezria in a span of a few weeks had restored many officials to their posts at shattered civil institutions. The new Naval branch which continued to swell with recruits, the vast bulk of them Elvish. The Elves might not like their new masters, but they had a chance to carve out something better for themselves from the instability that had brought the country to it's knees. Governor Serras had made it clear to the Elven elders that Ezria was the future. It represented law and order...while these rebels represented chaos, anarchy, and murder.

Summary:
-In the wake of the murders of Ezrian soldiers, Governor Serras orders the city be made secure. Several thousand troops are brought in from the barracks to increase patrols in troubled districts and increase Ezrian presence where it's needed.

-A new mandate is passed that all civilians must be unarmed within the city.

-Local informants within the Mabiyan community are utilized to gather more information on the rebels and locate their base of operations and the General himself.

Empire of Ezria (C) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Empire of Ezria (C)   Empire of Ezria (C) Icon_minitimeWed Mar 23, 2011 6:13 pm

Agrina Battlefield:
The wet sound of blade meeting flesh continued long after the Dwarven army had retreated. Tetrach Valerious was covered in gore. The dead Dwarf in front of him had long since been killed many blows ago, but the Tetrach couldn't stop hacking. His arms ached, his lungs screamed for air, the stunted man's chest had been reduced to a bloody hunk of meat. His sword had a notch in it from the force of the strikes that he had inflicted, but the battle was still very much going on in the soldier's eyes and in his mind. He could still hear the screams of his comrades and of the enemy. It wouldn't stop.

'' SOLDIER! '' Somewhere in the back of his exhausted mind, he recognized the word. The restraining grip of talon's crushing against his wrist stopped his sword before it could deliver another blow. Valerious was slowly spun around, the familiar face of Talon Leader Matsuo staring at him. Matsuo and Valerious were the only men alive from their platoon, they had both been in the center that had taken such a pounding from the Republican forces. Technically the battle had lasted little more than a few hours but to Valerious it had gone on for a lifetime. '' Get to the rear. Get seen by the medicus and then we'll reform with the rest of the company. '' The Talon Leader said after a long moment. The soldier gave a nod, sheathing his battered blade and recovering a shred of his composure before he began stepping over the corpses and towards the tents beneath the walls of Agrina that had been erected to see to the wounded. It was as if he had been shaken awake from some horrible nightmare but Valerious knew that this was no dream.

Valerious wasn't the only soldier that had been affected by the fight that he had seen. For many of these men it had been their first battle..and the Dwarves would be back. However, if it had been bad for the Ezrian's it would be worse for the Dwarves. The battlefield was littered with the fallen. Civilians moved amongst them, collecting the wounded and the dead alike. He had lost many comrades this day..the Dwarves would pay.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coronne / Royal Palace:
When word reached the capital city of the victory of Hulagu and Kulash at the Battle of Agrina, King Casimir had ordered bells in every Ezrian city to ring to commemorate the moment. The streets were filled with Ezrian's by the thousands as they swarmed outside the palace gates, King Casimir made a brief appearance on the balcony and was nearly deafened by the roar of thousands of throats before retreating back to his throne room.

The victory outside Agrina had been a major one, that much was certain. The Dwarves had been thrown back with heavy casualties, but the Ezrian's had taken losses as well. He was under no illusions that this was the end of the war, but it might just be the end of the beginning if Casimir played his cards shrewdly. '' Send word to Ambassador Anda, he is in Agrina as we speak. Tell him to commence with what we have discussed. '' He barked at one of his advisors. Knowing the opportunistic Anda, he would be on the move long before Casimir's messenger arrived with Casimir's peace proposal if you could call it that.

The terms were generous and the Dwarve's would be honor bound to hear them. But he knew that the current leadership wouldn't accept them, they were apt to hold grudges. Especially with the history that Ezria and Dwarf had. But at the least he could try and splinter the groups in two. War and peace factions, with this victory he had the political capital to do so.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Agrina:
In the time that had followed the Dwarves declaration of war, the Ezrian's had worked frantically to finish the walls that guarded the city. They had been under construction well before the war started, but it had stalled. Lack of coin..and no visible threat to the Empire couldn't justify the cost. Now, all that had changed. Every available field hand along with elements of the army had been thrown into ensuring the walls were completed and now after weeks upon weeks of work, and thousands of hours of labor, the walls were completed. These weren't just ordinary walls that a catapult could punch through, these were true fortifications. It would take thousands of men to be able to breach it's walls, and that could only be done with either a siege tower or by bursting through the steel gates. it was also a safe place where the Ezrian army could retreat, regroup, and lick it's wounds. The Dwarve's had broken on the fields of Agrina and War Master Hulagu was determined that if they attacked again they would break on Ezria's very stones.

Summary:
-A secret peace delegation is sent from Agrina to Everwinter led by veteran ambassador Batyn Anda. The Ezrian party will be carrying a flag of parley, the Dwarves being honorable folk shouldn't attack them.

-Major Stone Walls are completed at Agrina for a cost of 35 EP.

*Note: I said these walls were under construction before the war started to make it more plausible that they would be finished in such a short space of time.

Moderation Mark

Mabiya District
With the extra forces within the city, crime drastically dropped but so too did the tensions of the native populous. The elves watched warily of all the armed Ezrians walking around. Each avian soldier was also hyper alert since no one within their command structure had yet to find out the location of Thaedys'm Cal was working from. As the tensions grew between the avians and elves, fights broke out over little incidents that typically would of just been over looked. Like a couple of farmers coming into the city to visit the local blacksmith were accosted by some of the soldiers because of the scythes they were carrying. A little brawl broke out which ended in the farmers being arrested and several soldiers being beaten with a couple bruises.

The heightened security though didn't stop the deaths or disappearances though. At random intervals to keep the local authorities guessing, either an avian or elf support would wind up dead or missing. From what investigators could determine, no weapons had been used to kill the victims. Each one seemed to have just stopped living though many of their faces where contorted in displays of fear or pain.

This was how Thaedys'm Cal fought back against what they considered occupiers. General Silias was pleased with the developments so far, though the people of his home were lax in their want to fight back. The stimulus of jobs that the Ezrians maintain made his job difficult for many of the elves wanted to work than fight. It was his whole purpose in the tactics that his forces applied. If he could cause tensions to raise, then maybe it the people would raise up in revolt.

General Silias had come to the formal capital in disguise of a farmer, having one of the wizards alter his image so he didn't look the same. Though his subordinates did not wish him to go, the general had to meet with his conspirators within the capital to assess what was going on. The Shadow Council is what they called themselves and was made up of elves in all forms of society that didn't appreciate the rule of the Ezrians' or their taxes.

"So how do things fare in the city gentleman," asked General Silias once the meeting started in one of the merchant's homes as evening feel.

"It becomes harder to move around General. The Ezrians are in force and nervous within the cities," responded one merchant.

"Not to mention that the beakers have put a pretty hefty tax on us. From what I hear it is a commonplace within their land, but people here are upset about it," spoke one of the shop keepers.

"It is just putting more people into our camp though. Plus tensions our growing higher within the city from the attacks of your soldiers, but do you really need to target our own people General," asked the merchant again.

Silias just shook his head. "Any one of us who is friendly to the occupiers needs to learn that they shouldn't be self centered and more concerned with their own people."

The meeting progressed into the boring details of logistics and planning. To carry on with this sort of campaign required a lot of planning and being elves, they picked over every little detail. Either they would free their kingdom or die trying.

-Tensions grow between the avians and the elves as more soldiers patrol the streets and the Ezrian government increases the taxes to pay for their war against the dwarves. There are instances of fighting between commoners and soldiers from the increase strain and the murders of Ezrian officials and their elvish supporters.

-General Silias goes to a meeting with elves who support the Thaedys'm Cal and begin planning the next series of maneuvers against the occupiers. The meeting is being held at one of the merchant's houses during the night. Word of this meeting can reach the ears of the Ezrian soldiers for the cost of 4 EP.

Shurmanda City:
The sound of coin changing hands was lost in the ruffling of clothing, as the Elven rebel turned traitor eagerly stuffed the coin into his robes. '' Master Calendril's house, correct? '' Battlemaster Sordu said, his face twisting into what could be considered a grin for an Avian. The Elf gave a feverish nod. '' Good, you have served your King well. I trust you now to be a loyal follower of His Majesty. '' He said, those hard eyes fixing the Elf like a he was a field mouse. '' Of..of course. '' The Elff stammered before giving a hasty bow and fleeing. '' Battle Captain Kirhae, see that this business is taken care of. Take them all prisoner, I want no blood as the Governor has ordered. '' Kirhae brought his fist to his breastplate in salute before stalking into the night to carry out his orders.

Nearly twenty minutes later, Kirhae's soldiers over a hundred of them had the small house surrounded. They could see a candle burning low through the window and figures gathered around it. He had sent word for an additional company of troops to join them. Kirhae was taking no chances. '' With me. '' The Battlecaptain ordered, drawing his blade as his foot smashed open the front door. The massive Avian filling the doorway, having to hunch to step through it. That cruel sword raised as he stared at the startled men, each struggling to work their jaws to say something. Kirhae gave them no chance. '' In the name of the King, I place you all under arrest! Seize them! '' He said pointing towards the traitors as he stepped aside to allow the men behind him to move in. Simultaneously troops cut off escape from the back, swarming into the house from the rear door. Blades drawn as they rushed the men. Then all hell broke loose in the scuffle that followed. If the rebels were taken alive, they would be shackled and bound before quietly being loaded and transported back to the dungeons where they would be placed under heavy guard.

Governor's Palace:
'' For the love of the Ancestors, release the bloody farmers. '' Governor Serras snarled as his steward read off the day's business to his master. A deep breath was sucked into those massive lungs, talons retreating into their sheaths before extending once more. He was aggravated and tired. '' There seems to be discontent over the tax rate, it's could spark riots. True Ezrian citizens know that the money is needed to fend off the Dwarves, but the knife ears are much more narrow minded, lordship.'' His steward murmured dutifully. '' Well, it doesn't matter. I have received a message from the King. Taxes are to be lowered back to previous levels. Something about new trade agreements having allowed more income for the country. Make the announcement, that should make the money grubbing bastards happy. '' Serras said, he was beginning to regret taking this post. Pacifying these barbarians was proving to be more trouble than it was worth.

Summary:
-4 EP is paid for information on the rebel leadership, Battlecaptain Kirhae leads a company of men and storms the location. He orders the arrest of everyone inside.

-Governor Serras orders the tax rate to be lowered to 10 in accordance with news from Coronne.

Coronne:
The news was bad. The iron mines had dried up, the current timber reserves that the Kingdom had were so depleted that warships could no longer be built, and a strange virus had killed off large swathes of the female Gryphon population. '' At this rate, the Gryphon population will go extinct in a few years time. Fresh, reproductive females are required to ensure new war mounts. Until we find a new herd, no new cavalry can be trained. '' The report outlined, for Minister Sakra..newly promoted from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Ministry of Raw Materials, Ezria's war efforts were going to be affected drastically if the required resources could not be found.

Ezria however, had two things in it's favor..first and foremost the size of the Kingdom had exploded from the mountain chain that Ezria controlled for close to a thousand years. The fertile lowlands were now in Ezria's grasp. The rolling hills of Maibya and the plains to the northern part of the country, these were where new natural resources could be harassed. Sakra organized over twelve survey teams, more than five of them were heading to the relatively uncharted northern frontier along the coast to search for timber and new Gryphon mounts. Other teams stalked Mabiya Province, hoping to stumble across other resource materials. Despite the danger with the Dwarve's Sakra had dispatched surveyors to re-open old Ezrian mines to search for new mineral veins.

Shurmanda:
The Ezrian Navy was going to get it's first taste of combat, or said the rumors from the soldiers. No one was sure though and in truth neither was the King it seemed as to what was to be done. Battlemaster Caranir, sporting a Sessuan fur coat that he had recently bought at the market watched the fleet proceed out of the harbor. From his flagship the Victory, the trireme pace was steady. As was her sister ship Colossus, four bireme's circled around the two larger vessels in a protective net. It felt strange fighting for a new King, a new land...but the winds of change had blown. Mabiya would forever be Ezrian, and Caranir himself though an Elf was now 'Ezrian'. He had benefited from King Casimir however, and despite his reservations to fight under a foreign flag..he had a mission to complete.

Summary:
-Ezrian survey teams hunt for new resources, the Kingdom has doubled in size under King Casimir. Hope's of finding new resources such as timber, metals, and new Gryphon mounts are high.

-The Ezrian Navy sets sail to rendezvous with the Sessuan fleet.

Kingdom of Ezria

The troops under Battlemaster Kirhae exploded into the small merchant's quarters with their blades drawn. Just as the report had indicated, a dozen Elves were present in that small abode. Only two of those present fought back, skewering the first Avian who charged them and kicking the guards dead body aside before being brought down by a handful of other guards. All of the Elven conspirators were bound and shackled, but it seemed that none amongst them were leaders, as most only knew tidbits of information about what exactly the resistance was up to. However, maps seized in the raid pointed out that the Thaedys'm Cal apparently had a camp in northern Mabiya, just near the coast.

The conspirators would be escorted back to Coronne for further interrogation and probable torture. The lack of presence of General Silias was the most disturbing, as the rumors had put him at that spot on this night. General Silias had been considered the proverbial head of the snake of Thaedys'm Cal. Capturing General Silias would put a legitimate damper on the movements and abilities of the Thaedys'm Cal. Among the Ezrian Mabiyan Royal Guard General Silias was quickly becoming an elusive figure.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Shurmanda,
Slums

" Shut the door, fool! " The voice whispered, and the door was promptly shut. The slums were expansive ; thousands of Elves lived in poverty since the Ezrian Trade Guilds had moved into Shurmanda. It had been nine days since the small group of the Thaedys'm Cal had been captured and those other elements were on edge since the beakers were cracking down on them. A heavy thunderstorm had graced them, which meant Ezrian patrols were minimized since most Ezrians hated the water.

There were four of them, three Elves and an Ezrian. The Ezran was Mervao, a former merchant who had turned in his trading title for reasons unknown. He had found something more important to him than his small bazaar in Shurmanda, her name was Lintsya. They had been together since just a few weeks after the initial Ezrian occupation and she was with child. Everyone in the room, Marvao and Lintsya were both apprehensive about the consequences of their decision to consummate. She was due soon, very soon and both soon-to-be parents were fearful that their reckless act would bring a child into the world unfit for either society. The other two Elves, both minor members in the Thaedys'm Cal continued checking the nearby window to make sure no one was suspicious. Only the occassional Elf ever ran past, attempting to get out of the heavy spring rain.

Lit only by a single candle, Lintsya gave birth to her child in the very early hours of the morning even as the rain continued to come down. He was given the name Traenyn Mervao, an Elven and Ezrian combination. He was a genetic anomaly, bearing both the eminence of arcane potentiality with sharp pointed ears and slender skin, but a beak and small budding wings that would blossom into a huge wingspan in his adolescence.

The entourage did not stay long, under the cover of the heavy rain the group fled Shurmanda and headed north. They reached General Silias' camp two days later, where they were offered refuge by General Silias. Traenyn Mervao was shown to Silias, and Silias promptly proclaimed him the new would-be heir of the Mabiyan throne. His mixed blood could also make him a legitimate heir to the Ezrian throne and if such an incident were to occur than Elves and Ezrians could exist on equal terms, or .. as Silias envisioned, the Ezrians would be the second class citizens under Traenyn. As long as Traenyn remained a secret until adolescence, and he was turned into a beaker hating nationalist, the Thaedys'm Cal's mission would be an inevitable success.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

-- The group of Thaedys'm Cal are apprehended. Their leader is not amongst them but maps are taken that reveal that the Elven resistance have a camp in northern Mabiya that the General may be at.

-- Traenyn Mervao is born. He is the first Avian-Elf mixed blood and is championed by General Silias as the future heir of the now defunct Mabiyan Throne. No Ezrian, except for the defector Mervao known of his existence.

-- A potential forest can be utilized for resources, but it is near the Thaedys'm Cal's encampment. Once they are relocated or defeated, the forest (Wood Resource) can be used.

Empire of Ezria (C) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Empire of Ezria (C)   Empire of Ezria (C) Icon_minitimeFri Apr 01, 2011 5:06 pm

Royal Palace / Coronne:
Casimir had undisputedly eclipsed both his grandfather and father during his near forty year reign. The country had doubled in size, the Elvish lands of Mabiya had been seized as had the Mabiyan throne, new roads connecting every corner of his Kingdom had been constructed, and unlike his father the Ezrian Royal Army was holding it's own against the Dwarve's. War Master Hulagu was preparing a fresh offensive to drive the enemy from Agrina after inflicting a devastating defeat on the Republican forces outside the city. The title of a mere King had never been enough for him, what Casimir had wanted to do was forge Ezria into an Empire and for the most part he had succeeded..even if his gains at this point were shaky and in need of consolidation. Ezria was on the cusp of greatness, Casimir could feel it. His courtiers had begun to press him to take an even greater title that of Emperor. It would be a fitting title since the King now ruled over multiple ethnic groups, and whether the Elve's liked it or not they would be brought to heel. It would be grinded into their psyche that now and forever that they would be Ezrian and he was their sovereign liege.

The ceremony to mark Casimir from King to the first of the Ezrian Emperor's was a short and simple one. The Patriarch from the Holy City of Matrija had arrived to bless the ceremony, Casimir had a new crown forged. Two rubies studded in the crown representing the Ezrian and Mabiyan Crown's forged into one. The ceremony was held in the Royal Palace of Coronne and packed with hundreds of courtiers, Avian and Elf alike to watch the proceedings. The Patriarch droned on for what seemed like hours, several times those gathered took to the knee to praise the Ancestors and the Divine Royal Family. '' Let us all swear our loyalty on our live's to serve our great lord Casimir, to honor him with our very lives if need be. I proclaim him the Master of our skies, the lord of the earth, and the Emperor of the Ezrian people. '' The throne room erupted into applause, as the Patriarch eased the heavy crown onto the 'Emperors' head. The gleam of ambition were in those bright eyes, soon he'd be adding more rubies to his crown.

--------------------------------------------------
Mabiya Province:
The Ezrian's struck without warning in the pre-dawn hours. Over six hundred elite Avian light infantry had been assembled for the task, creeping towards the rebel camp and using the surrounding brush as camouflage until the sun began it's slow march on the horizon. An Ezrian cavalry unit was stationed further down the road, out of sight and waiting for dawn to advance. '' Remember I want prisoners. Now, attack! '' Kirhae ordered his fellow officers as the Ezrian infantry took to the sky, their massive wings taking them into the cloud clover as they dropped into the rebel encampment like eagles where the Ezrian soldiers hoped to get the drop on still sleeping, confused, and dazed rebel troops. At that moment, 300 Ezrian heavy cavalry (Elven) burst down the road, sabers having been wrenched from scabbards as they rushed the rebel camp. The sounds of scream and the clash of steel on steel already filtering through the air.

Summary:
King Casimir declares himself Emperor. The Kingdom of Ezria will now be known as the Empire of Ezria.

The Ezrian Army attacks the rebel encampment found on captured maps in a dawn assault designed to catch the rebels off guard and hopefully still asleep.
