Third Battle of Agrina
Turn 1 (Campaign Turn 9)
The systematic slaughter of the remainder of the Republican Dwarven Legion would not be one easily forgotten. General Sid went down in a comparative blaze of fire, taking seven Ezrians down before being shot twice from Ezrian archers across the Southeastern Courtyard. The
Third Battle of Agrina was less of a large single battle and more a dozen smaller battles all taking place in different locations within the city of Agrina. General Hulagu was also a hotly debated subject. Was he the last casualty of the Ezrian defeat at the
Second Battle of Agrina, or was the first casualty of the inevitable Ezrian victory of the
Third Battle of Agrina? He was skewered by one of the many spearmen who watched them. The commander of the spearmen guarding the Ezrians called a tactical retreat just as the fierce
Nukur landed inside the square where the prisoners were held. Hulagu lay dead, but the remaining prisoners were freed and told to remain until the battle was over.
Commander Strongarm and his 110 man strong company were ambushed seven times, and seven times they fought the
Nukur infantry off who fell from the sky and darted to and fro. The Dwarven commander himself fell during the fifth ambush, but the spearmen fought until the last two dozen or so and they surrendered.
The soldiers under Prince Rhago eventually reached the gates (Since they wouldn't reach the gates until ModMark 2. Y'anno
THIS MODMARK) and was given free entrance. Bodies littered the ground in every direction, and it Prince Rhago stepped carefully to avoid standing on a slain corpse. Within minutes, an Ezrian soldier fell from the sky, landed abruptly and approached the Prince. He bowed low and began to speak.
" Those units still alive have surrendered, my liege. Their commander is slain. We have them here! " Prince Rhago noted the bloodied saber hanging from the soldier's hip, a warrior to be sure. He turned and extended a talon to show Prince Rhago what he meant. They marched, their hands bound and their armor bloody, the remainder of the Dwarven Republican Legion. They numbered 232, and they had seen better days.
Nukur warriors surrounded them on all sides. The highest ranking officer among them was a Corporal, and he had little information to give on anything useful in the campaign.
About the same the fierce fighting in Agrina ended, it began. It was heavy, there was no exponential growth, no calm before the storm. The snow fell in sheets, and within the first hour an inch and a half had coated the battlefield. The temperature dropped into the negatives, and complaints became commonplace. Prince Rhago himself wore a Sessauan fur, as did his aide-de-camp, but the Ezrian Auxiliary Force as a whole was not so lucky.
