The Dwarves would never accept peace, not while the war was still fresh. It would take much more blood and victories to force them to the negotiations table. But that wasn't the point, was it? The Dwarves would be honor bound to hear Ezria's terms for peace and the hope was that they would splinter into two separate factions. A disunited enemy was that much more easy to pick off. Ambassador Batyn Anda knew that it was a bold plan and it may not work.

The Avian and his small party of ten had managed to skirt past what was left of the Dwarven army at Death Trap pass, they had gone over jagged rocks, and sharp peaks in order reach this place. The information that had been pulled from the Dwarven prisoner had paid off but Anda had difficulty believing that these were the only two entrances to the Dwarven Kingdom. They had managed to arrive at the one to the South.

'' Careful my lord...'' Croaked one of his bodyguards as they arrived outside the area on their map.

'' I don't see any entrance. '' Anda murmured before one of his men stepped forward to inspect the rock. Running his talons over the stone a sharp croak that passed for a laugh amongst the Avian's leaving his vocal cords. '' Camouflage. '' The Avian promptly smashed the butt of his spear against the rock. The sound was hollow.

'' DWARF! We come under terms of parlay, in the name of honor you are required to hear our offer. '' The Ezrian soldier barked before stepping back towards his party. Hands were pinned on blades, tension in the party was high. Anda knew that the Dwarves were watching them, they had to be...

A Master Sergeant by the name of Locks was near the entrance with a unit of fifty Dragon Scale Shield dwarves and heard the sound of something or someone hitting the stone above him. "DWARF! We come under terms of parlay, in the name of honor you are required to hear our offer." The Ezrian soldier had practically barked his voice sounding to the dwarves something akin to nails on a chalkboard.

"Private, run back an inform the Gate Gaurds about these Avians." Locks stated a anger burning in his eyes. How these Avain's got passed the 3rd Dwarven Legion was two possibilities. One the 3rd was defeated, which case his brother was likely dead, or they flew around them by-passing the dwarves army.

Ordering the rest to have their shields ready and prepared for a fight the Master Sergeant left the tunnel. Pulling the camouflage fabric off the entrance of the tunnel the Dwarves marched out looking above them where the Avian's stood. The area that they beleived to be the camouflaged entrance made of stone was in fact just part of the mountain.

"Like you heard our offer centuries past, yes crow?" the Master Sergeant spat back but he and his soldiers kept their hands off their swords or their hammers and war axe's, which had no sheaths, low near the ground. Their shields had remained in their defensive posture weary of the Avian's trickery.

'' We did hear your offer. As I recall it was leave the mountain or die. King Zengari was not inclined to do either and your ambassador paid for that threat dearly. Wouldn't you do the same if the lives of your women and children were threatened with death? Or has that lone survivor told a different tale? Regardless, I haven't come to debate the past. '' The deep voice of Ambassador Anda growled from behind the ranks of his soldiers which parted to allow the tall Avian to step forward.

'' Your Army has been defeated and thrown back from Agrina with heavy casualties. Even as we speak, my master is preparing to crush what remains of your forces. '' That was a bluff, but the Dwarves' hadn't seemed to have gotten word back from their army in the field. Hmm, Anda could spin this to his advantage. '' But this can be avoided if we speak to your leaders. Now is not the time to dwell on something that happened when both of us were barely hatchlings, lives are at stake. Both Avian and Dwarf alike. I come to offer terms. ''

(OOC: Gonna say it's night time cuz they traveled after the fighting was over so with wings and good winds they arrived in time before nightfall but only just. Kool with you Ezria?)

"Our ambassador wasn't sent on such a mission obviously your leaders trickery doesn't extend to just their enemies but their own people as well. He was sent to ask if relocation was possible and offer our aid. If not then come to an agreement of peace with your pigeon brained leaders killed him and all his escorts except one before hearing him out, and hearing what you wanted to hear." Locks stated to the gaurd his voice rising in anger at the Ambassadors words.

Looking at Anda the Master Sergeant stated, "It would have taken a longer time to defeat the 3rd Dwarven Legion. You blantent lie was too bold try something more reasonable next time you open that beak of yours." his men gained confidence at his words after hearing Anda's words their stubborn beleifs reinforced. Locks though was shaken, not visible so with his stone like demeanor betray nothing but hatred and distrust of the Avain party, "You'll leave your weapons at the entrance of the tunnel, if you don't then you don't go any further. If you find this unacceptable then you can rest here for the night, under gaurd but out of the elements," Locks guestured towards the tunnel with his hammer, "you will then leave tomorrow morning, do we understand eachother?"

'' You know the specifics of an event that happened over a 140 years ago, now do you?'' Anda said with a shrug of his massive wings. '' Or are you more familiar with the propaganda that your forefathers have passed on to justify a war of genocide against my people? '' The ambassador was quick to counter with a snappish retort of his own.

'' If you don't believe me about your Legion, then send a courier to the pass. The ragged remnants of your troops are there. I believe that this belong's to one of your units. '' Anda reached within the folds of his cloak to produce a banner that was clearly of Dwarven make. '' I believe our troops captured this from one of your light cavalry units when they broke and ran. '' The flag was neatly and precisely refolded with a touch of respect as he handed it to the Dwarven guardsman.

'' Yes, yes, we will disarm. '' That brought a low growl from those troops assembled, but Anda curled his talons silencing all opposition. Swords were left with the guards at the tunnel. '' Leaving as soon as possible is quite fine with me, if you think I want to be amongst you inferior barbarians for a minute longer than you are sorely mistaken. Now lead on. Anymore time we waste will lead to more lives lost.'' The typical Ezrian arrogance shining through the ambassador's demeanor as the Ezrian's monitored by their Dwarven guards entered the tunnel.

[Fine with me]

"I'm over 220 years old, does that answer your question?" the dwarf stated forcing himself to act as if the insult against his elder kinsmen was never said. Under normal circumstances such a comment would be cause for a honorable fight but this was a diplomat and not under normal circumstances.

Propping his hammer up against some stone Locks took the flag from the Avian, "Our flags haven't changed in centuries. This very well could be one from our last confrontation there's no true way to tell. Never the less thank you for returning it." The dwarf replied placing the flag within his chest armor for safe keeping.

The gaurds split up half behind the Avians the other half in front. Locks stated, "Don't say anything the to dwarves you see. They'll hold their anger in check because your a diplomate but if you provoke them it's not our fault." Locks stated plainly, though not wanting to inform the ambassador that the dwarves gaurding him now would keep harm from happening to the Avian's because the Avians had trust their lives to Locks and those under his command.

Locks led the Avians through the entrance where they were greeted by the South Entrance Wardens, many of whom at first had their weapons ready but upon seeing the disarmed Avians seathed their own. The light within the cavern was a soft blue light ebbing out of the Glow Worm Lamps. Grabbing a number of them the dwarves hand two to the Avians which would provide enough light for them to see. The Dwarves gaurding them under Locks command formed a circle around the Avian's preventing any from leaving the group and wandering off while at the same time keeping dwarves hostile to the Avians a good distance away as well.

Ushering the Avian's into a hastily covered that wouldn't allow the occupants to see anything outside of the wagon. The dwarves and Avians then set out for the Grand Hall of Thanes where the Thanes and Regent were already present discussing topics with Garek Whitebeard. The Avian's though would wait in a chamber below the Grand Hall of Thanes and wait till buisness with Garek was finished. They'd never know the dwarf was there or that he was from another nation of dwarves.

[We're gonna be bending time with the Thanes and Regent talking to you at the same time as Garek lol wonderfull]

'' You miss my point. You weren't there, in 140 years all manner of details can be changed. The aggressor can become the hero and the victim the villain. Since then two Ezrian King's have come and gone. King Zengari is long dead, as is his son Ogedai. Now all that remains is King Casimir, his grandson. The hatchet will have to be buried if we are to achieve peace. The less time we go sorting through the details of the past, the better.'' The Ezrian replied cooly.

Despite the fact that the Ezrian's had no weapons, the soldiers encircled the bodyguard. Those massive talons weren't just for show, in cramped conditions they could rip out throats and tear through flesh. Batyn along with his men weread through a small labyrinth. He remained unimpressed by the sight before him. The wretched Dwarf did seem to prattle on and on. But it matched what he'd been told. These people couldn't let old wounds heal. '' Perhaps you could tell your master the urgency? I believe it's important enough to interrupt whatever business he is partaking in at the moment. '' Batyn murmured as he waited.

[ Well technically Garen came awhile ago, you could just say this is after. I don't wanna wait forever and fool around with small talk forever for this thread though, lmao. ]

The dwarfs temper was increased with the ambassadors assumption that he wasn't there. Locks was in the seats of the Grand Hall of Thanes when they decided to send the dwarf ambassador above ground. He knew what was said and agreed upon and the report given by the sole survivor was in the very Grand Hall of Thanes that was above their heads now. Mumbling under his breath, "Maybe your facts and details have changed but we dwarves haven't changed a damn thing about ours."

When the Avian's has been deposited into a room below the Grand Hall of Thanes a Gaurd of the Ambassador rudely requested, "Perhaps you could tell your master the urgency? I believe it's important enough to interrupt whatever business he is partaking in at the moment."

"Where do you think I'm going crow the tavern for a cool mug of ale? And they're not masters they're elected Thanes and Regent. Till I return you'll have to wait though now won't you, ask my men for anything you require." the room the Avain's were deposited had a large enough ceiling that they didn't have to bend over. It was made for the purpose of entertaining taller guests then the Dwarves themselves, the whole underground part of the Grand Hall of Thanes was in fact this way. Although they didn't have to lower their heads walking through doorways or in rooms the height was uncomfortablely low for the Avians. Out side the only door entering the subterran room were 1/3 of Locks remaining troops. Two other equally sized groups were at the end of the hall way standing gaurd for the Avian's safety as well as the dwarven people.

When Locks left he informed the gaurds that should the Avian's require something such as food or drink it was to be provided. He then mumbled something similar to, "We're not slaves to masters like you crows are." before leaving to inform the Thanes and Regent. They informed him they'd be down in a few moments as their buissnes was almost complete. Locks grinning the whole way back to the room at the though of agitating the Avians, but smoothed out his beard and the grin vanished before knocking on the door waiting to enter upon the Avian's approval.

[Yo you messaged me those names on that other site yet though so I can get your mod mark up?]

What exactly did the Dwarf expect him to call him? The Ezrian ambassador didn't have an inkling whether the Dwarve's were a Republic, a Monarchy, a collection of tribes? Or a bunch of cave dwelling, dung eating filthy barbarians. '' Don't drink any of the water. No doubt they'll have poisoned it. '' A voice amongst the Ezrian's murmured quietly so that their guards couldn't hear. '' Be quiet. '' Batyn chastised

'' Come in. '' He said as the Dwarf knocked and entered. '' Are your 'superiors' '' the word chosen with care.. '' ready to see us? '' Batyn said, showing no sign that his feathers had been ruffled so to speak by the Dwarf's manner or his behavior. He was impassive as the stone around them.

"Not quite, they'll be down shortly though. They weren't expecting your people to send anyone to talk to us after assualting our scouts near the entrance after all." Locks informed then inquired as ordered, "I'm sure your hungry besides thirsty, I'll have to insist that the men get some food. And water is fine for marching but they'll get some cool ale for you. You'll eat fish though yes?" the dwarf waited for an answer knowing that their travel would have caused them to be hungry and assuming since some bird he'd read about ate fish that the Avians too wouldn't mind such food. Locks disliked offering the Avian's comforts but the Regent ordered him to, at least he had the satisfation of informing them that an immediate audience would take a little longer then they expected.

'' That's a highly debatable point. Our men were ambushed, what were troops doing on the surface I wonder? '' Batyn said with a shrug of those wings. '' You were on Ezrian land when you killed our men. I highly doubt you were just guarding the entrance to your mountains, when we didn't even know where it was. You Dwarve's make a repeated point of bringing up the past and love to cast yourselves as the victims. The world is not shades of black and white. We have our own provisions, but thank you for the offer. '' Batyn murmured.

"What they were doing is none of your concern," Locks stated plainly, it wasn't a secret he just didn't want to tell them anything. The dwarves were simply checking to make sure that the camouflaged entrence wasn't in need of fixing up, "The dwarves of the Republic were defending themselves when your birds came swooping down upon them. How else could your scouts, flying about, could have engaged us dwarves." Word had spread of how the Avians had swooped down from the sky and there had been reports of other such groups high in the sky when the Dwarves retreated into their underground domain before a declaration of war.

"The world isn't in shades of black and white it is black and white. We Dwarves know the difference." Locks stated wanting to clearify for the Avians before him. "Travel rations aren't that great but suit yourselves."

Another knock on the door and one of the soldiers informed, "The Regent and Thanes are here. They wish to speak with you privately Master Sergeant Locks." Leaving the room he gave a short briefing to the Regent and Thanes regarding his expereince with the Avains as well as some of the information given by the birds regarding the 3rd Dwarven Legion.

Before the Regent and Thanes entered after requesting permission some unarmed soldiers entered as well. To show that both parties would be on equal footing, while at the same time providing protection for the Regent and Thanes. Although the claws of the Avians looked feirce and those birds had a longer reach the dwarves were by far much stronger and could defend themselves equally if need be.

The Thanes and Regent made fists and brought them to their chests. A sign of respect for this diplomatic party. They introduced each other to the Avians, Thane Flint wasn't present but they excused his absence as attending other matters not going into detail what those matters were.

(Out of Character Explaination for Thane Flint Stokes is that he's required by honor to entertain his guest which is Garek Whitebeard hench his 'absence')

'' It is our concern. You were violating Ezria's territory and sovereignty. For all our scouts knew, your troops were scouts for an invasion force. If our soldiers ventured into your underground domain, would you have done any different? The Dwarve's stay underground and the Ezrian's own the sky. That is the way of things have been for a hundred years and that is how they will remain. But from the accounts I hear, your soldiers attacked first and murdered our men. Talon Leader Varnus saw the crime and acted, as any Ezrian soldier would have done. '' That was the report that Battlemaster Kulash had reconstructed as the most probable altercation to have occurred. '' As usual, you Dwarves allow yourselves to be blinded by the past. ''

Batyn followed Locke to the meeting point, responding to the Dwarve's salute with a small bow of his head and sweep of his arm. Those talon's capable of rending flesh were sheathed. '' I have come to give terms for a peaceful end to this war. King Casimir is great and merciful, he wishes to see no more bloodshed between our two peoples. '' Anda reached within the folds of his robe to produce a scroll, which he unfurled to read the following terms.

-Ezria will renounce all claims to the Dwarven holds.

-Everwinter will renounce all claims to Ezrian lands.

-Embassies will be exchanged to prevent future conflicts.

-Both countries swear to abide by a non aggression pact that will last 12 seasons. (12 Modmarks)

Locks heard the Avain's response to his words be denied a response. He didn't trust himself to speak anymore. They talked as if the dwarves were vermin ment to live underground while they ruled and owned the skies. Cockey birds they were claiming dwarves were blinded by the past, if that was true they they were blinded by their arrogance.

"I have come to give terms for a peaceful end to this war. King Casimir is great and merciful, he wishes to see no more bloodshed between our two peoples." Ambassador Anda reached within the folds of his robe to produce a scroll, which he unfurled to read the following terms to the Regent and two thanes present.

-Everwinter will renounce all claims to Ezrian lands.
-Embassies will be exchanged to prevent future conflicts.

The Regent asked, "Master Sergeant Locks informed me of the statements you claimed. That the 3rd Dwarven Legion was practically defeated and retreated to Death Trap Pass. Do you still claim this to be true Avian? You also claimed not to know where our entrance was to our Republic. How did you come across such information. Even if you were to capture on of the 3rd it'd take more then a few days to get any dwarf to give you information that you'd wish. Purhaps you happened upon other Dwarves and took your time to extract the information?" The regent stated avoiding the topic of terms between the Avians and the Dwarves for now.

'' Do you understand the concept of scouting my lord? Over six thousand dwarves sprang out of the mountains. Do you think we wouldn't notice from where they came? We control the skies, we have eyes everywhere and have spy networks throughout this mountain chain. We know where you move and when you move...and from where you come from. What exactly are you trying to insinuate, lordship?. '' Batyn inclined with a cant of his head, a breath taken before he continued.

'' The Third Legion was defeated and has retreated back to Death Trap pass, yes. My King is gathering troops as we speak to begin a second push to eliminate them. Go send your own men to the pass, they will confirm what I am saying. Battlemaster Kulash defeated the Third and killed, wounded, or captured at least 2,000 dwarves on the fields of Agrina. Unless you don't consider a retreat a defeat perhaps? This is why it's important we come to terms now Regent. Or do you not value the lives of your kinsmen? '' The Avian stepped forward, his voice booming throughout the chamber as he pressed the Dwarf.

'' There is only one choice. Peace or War, choose and let the Ancestors judge you. ''

The Regent was not impressed with the Avian. He had been Regent for some time now and General before that. He was used to loud voices and sudden changes of emotions as the Avian had shown. "What I'm insinuating is that your people assualted a Dwarven Ambassador and his escort killing one of the Nine yet his body is no where to be found. Did you kill him else where once you learned of his mission or gathered information about our Republic. Purhaps you still hold him captive. That is what I'm asking."

"They are indeed at Death Trap Pass from the reports I've heard, though defeated the 3rd Dwarven Legion is not. They may have stumbled upon Avian forces this new place called Agrina, but it anything it will become a stale mate, it's named Death Trap Pass for a reason." Clearing his voice the Regent leaned closer to the bird and in a angry wispher informed, "And don't ever suggest a Dwarf doesn't value the lives of his kinsmen, you are a guest but even we will only tolerate so many insults before you are required to leave." Leaning back into his chair the Regent waited the Avian's reply.

The two other thanes that were present continued to remain silence showing no signs of emotion. They knew of their kinsmen Firestone and his escort. If he was alive the Avian's would have brought him with them to their negotiations as a sign of good faith. Him being absent meant that the ambassador was likely dead.

'' Call it what you will, your men have been halted and have lost thousands of troops. Hulagu's position grows stronger by the hour. If you can't admit defeat, then at least have the good sense to say that you now have no chance of victory. '' On the subject of the missing ambassador Firestone, denial was the name of the game. '' I have no knowledge of this Firestone. If he has not been found, then perhaps he succumbed to the weather or the human bandits in the hills. I deny on behalf of the Empire that Firestone was ever captured or taken into our custody. His fate is in the hands of the Ancestors now. ''

The Ezrian said with a flap of those wings, an Ezrian equivalent of a human shrug. '' Are you going to blame Ezria next when your child scrapes a knee or milk curdles? '' The Avian said with a sneer. '' My country is not the boogeyman. There are numerous alternate explanations as to where he could have gone. And you had best give me your answer quickly Regentf, time grows short and the hour of battle approaches. ''

"You're quick to bring up our loses. If ours are in the thousands so are yours Avian, for dwarves are sturdier then your people." Thrag was quick to stash away the bit of information that the Ambassador let slip and proceed upon it, "Ah so the Avian's behind their walls still fear the 3rd Dwarven Legion, enough so to call for more aide. You clearly wish for peace because your military force is become weaker else where the longer you fight the Republic as for Firestone you can deny it all you wish. We know that the humans in your lands wouldn't harm a dwarf. We've done nothing to harm them, your people though fought and beat them almost to where they no longer exist in the mountains so why would they aide you by assualting us, what would they gain from it? Absolutly nothing."

"As for your terms of peace, you can take them to your king. We'll deliver ours when it suits us and there will be no negotiations for when we submit ours you Kingdom will have the choice of accepting them of being lost in the river of time." Regent Thrag stated not convinced that the 3rd Dwarven Legion would face another defeat at Death Trap Pass or that the Avian's had anything to do with Ambassador Firestone's disappearence and the death of not only one of the Nine but also the other dwarves who were sent to escort Firestone.

''Human's attack anything that has wealth. You think because you haven't harmed them, they wouldn't attack a Dwarf? They probably thought he was a nobleman by his the size of his guard. '' The Ezrian let out a sigh at the Dwarf's stupidity. '' You will regret this Regent. The next time I deliver terms of peace, a river of Dwarven blood will have flowed. You had a chance to stop this madness. My Lord's terms are generous not because he is weak, but because he is strong. There will be no Dwarven triumph, Everwinter will be on the ash heap of history. Ezria will never surrender. '' The Ezrian turned and without another word spoken stalked out of the room towards the exit, no doubt followed by a small horde of Dwarven guards.
